About this Event
Themes of the Gospel: From Pit to Palace is a powerful multidisciplinary theatre production by Carl Dovi that reimagines the story of Joseph through the lens of migration, purpose, and destiny.
Presented by ReachArts Network CIC at Theatre in the Mill, this immersive live experience brings together music, theatre, dance, and visual art in one compelling performance.
At its core, the production explores Joseph’s journey as more than a biblical story. It is a story of displacement and transformation. Sold into a foreign land, separated from everything familiar, Joseph navigates uncertainty, injustice, and identity in a new environment. Yet, through resilience and the power of his gifts, he rises to become a leader in the very land he was taken to.
This narrative resonates deeply with contemporary experiences of migration, reflecting the journeys of individuals who leave or are forced from home and must rebuild, adapt, and find purpose in new spaces.
The production features live performances from gospel artists Tope Dada, alongside a dynamic cast of actors and dancers from the Drama Society. Visual artist Ruth Agbolade will create a live painting on stage, bringing Joseph’s dreams to life in real time as the story unfolds.
Audiences can expect a rich and emotionally engaging evening that blends storytelling, music, movement, and visual expression into a single, cohesive experience.
This is more than a performance. It is a reflection on journey, identity, and the unexpected paths that lead to purpose.
