When fighting erupted along the Thailand–Cambodia border in December 2025, more than 640,000 people were forced from their homes. While a ceasefire has allowed many to return, an estimated 127,000 people — including women, children, and the elderly — continue to live in temporary camps across several border provinces.
When headlines fade, displacement often disappears from view. Photography brings it back into focus.
Their Name Is Piehsak (“ភៀសសឹក”) is a photographic project by Belgian photojournalist John Vink, a longtime resident of Cambodia. Through intimate and quietly powerful images, the project documents the daily lives, resilience, and dignity of people displaced by the conflict. Proceeds from the project support ongoing relief efforts, with a particular focus on elderly survivors.
Join us for an evening of conversation on the intersection of humanity and photography. John Vink will share stories from his work along the Thailand–Cambodia border and reflect on the role of visual storytelling in preserving memory and human dignity during humanitarian crises. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the photographer and support medical relief efforts through the purchase of limited-edition books and photographs.
