Some evenings are harder to explain than others. This is one of them.
Jammertal Wine Estate from Villány has won the title of world's best red wine at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles — not once, but twice. The Cassiopeia Merlot 2015 in 2021. The Koh-I-Noor Merlot 2018 in 2026. No other winery in the history of the competition has done this. Not in France. Not in Italy. Not anywhere.
The person behind both wines is Zsófia Kövesdi — Jammertal's head winemaker, named International Female Winemaker of the Year in 2023. She will be in the room, pouring six wines from the estate, including the world's best red wine. Twice over.
Jammertal farms 85 hectares of Bordeaux varieties on the limestone bedrock and loess-clay soils of Villány — a terroir that has proven, on the world's biggest stage, that it belongs among the finest red wine regions on earth. Every wine in the lineup carries international medal recognition. The two that anchor the evening carry rather more than that.
This is not a typical tasting evening. The ticket price reflects what's in the glass.
