Ken Loach’s 2006 war drama The Wind That Shakes the Barley is set against the backdrop of the Irish War of Independence, portraying two brothers fighting a guerrilla war against British forces. Following the screening, Philip Whalen, chair and professor in the Department of History, provides cultural and historical context for the film and will lead a Q&A session.
