The Boys of The Haw bring you an evening of music in The Wheelhouse this September!
The Boys of The Haw are 3 veteran musicians playing Old Time, Celtic, Bluegrass, original songs and tunes and world music.
Jack Herrick of the Red Clay Ramblers. Jack plays guitar, banjo, octave mandolin, tin whistle and pump organ.
The RCR performed all over the USA, Europe and Africa. They were in several award winning Broadway plays and were in some of Sam Shepherd's movies. Jack was musical director.
Bob Vasile of Pratie Heads and Freyda and the Acoustic Attitude. Performed all over the USA and Europe. Plays, guitar and Cittern.
Fiddlin Al McCanless
Championship fiddler, Fiddlin’ Al McCanless has over 50 years of performing experience. Starting on harmonica and guitar at Boyden High School in Salisbury, N.C. Al took up fiddle as a sophomore at the UNC-CH School of Pharmacy. He was a founding member of legendary New Deal String Band and was a member of the Bluegrass Experience off and on for 50 years. Al spent years learning Irish-Celtic fiddle tunes and has made two recordings with his group Celtic Jam. He appeared on the first Red Clay Rambler Folkways recording, “The Red Clay Ramblers with Fiddlin’ Al McCanless”.
He now plays fiddle with Hindsight Bluegrass, The Boys of the Haw, and several other groups.
He has have toured all over Finland and Ireland. Spent time in Ireland visiting fiddlers and absorbing the music and culture, landscape and of course pub life.
Joseph Terrell
is a singer songwriter and virtuoso guitarist. He has toured all over the USA and Europe with his band Mipso. In addition to playing with the Boys of the Haw he pursues a solo career.
Doors open at 6:30pm. Show starts at 7.
