About this Event

THE WESTSIDE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA

The Westside Chamber Orchestra (WCO) is a Sounds Like LA program led by Music Director Brian Stone. Concert produced in collaboration with The Da Camera Society.

PROGRAM: "From Religion"

Henri Tomasi - Fanfares Liturgiques

Igor Stravinsky - Abraham and Isaac [Michael Segura, baritone]

Giovvani Battista Pergolesi - Stabat Mater [Tiffany Ho, soprano, Rachel Labovitch, alto]

ABOUT THE MUSIC

Tomasi's sensations of brass and percussion in Liturgical Fanfares will raise the roof of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in this program of music motivated by religion. Stravinsky challenges serial technique and gives vivid expression to a difficult biblical story in Abraham and Isaac. Finally, one of the crown jewels of sacred Italian Baroque music will pleasure us with Pergolesi's exquisitely beautiful Stabat Mater.
