Stories are more than what we see; they are what we hear. On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2 PM, the Washington Wind Symphony invites you to Blockbuster!, a concert experience dedicated to the iconic scores that have defined generations of cinema.
The program opens with the epic sweeping vistas of the silver screen. Experience the heraldic grit of John Williams’ The Cowboys and the soaring, emotional journey of Alan Silvestri’s Forrest Gump Suite. We’ll also explore the deep, soul-stirring themes of Ernest Gold’s The Exodus Song, arranged with the rich tonal colors only a premiere wind ensemble can provide.
Following intermission, we dive into the legendary shadows of the mafia underworld with Nino Rota’s The Godfather Saga, a masterclass in atmosphere and tension. The afternoon then takes a modern, high-energy turn with Golden (from K-Pop Demon Hunters), showcasing the vibrant, cross-cultural evolution of modern soundtracks, before the exhilarating flight of John Powell’s How to Train Your Dragon.
Finally, we close the afternoon by traveling to a galaxy far, far away.
