A talk/workshop on the history of periods in culture and medicine, exploring how these two worlds shape one another, and how the stories we tell affect our bodies.
Featuring creative writing exersizes, no writing experience necceasry to participate.
How did encyclopaedic writings on the dark magic of period blood - its ability to 'destroy meat and sour wine' - survive more than 2,500 years of cultural and scientific evolution to appear in the British Medical Journal of 1783?
How does period shame affect the way we move through the world? Our ability to experience pleasure? Joy? vitality?
Come and join the Wandering Womb as we unravel the history of periods through stories, myths, medicine and humour.
The talk presents new research on the history of periods. Connect with your body and leave feeling empowered with new knowledge, energy, and connection.
