Based on the play by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, The Visit tells the story of a small town fallen on desperate times. When it emerges that one of their own is now the richest woman in the world, the townspeople invite her back in the hope she will save them. She agrees, but only on one chilling condition: they must K*ll the man who betrayed her as a young woman and drove her away.
Outraged at first, the town insists they would never accept such a deal. Yet, as money is quietly borrowed in anticipation of her millions, moral lines begin to blur. Slowly and disturbingly, the community comes to justify the unthinkable. Starring Ingrid Bergman as the wealthy benefactor and Anthony Quinn as the doomed mayor, The Visit is a powerful exploration of how easily principles can be compromised when temptation takes hold.
