The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will hold a special sitting on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the University of San Diego, Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice. Oral arguments will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Theatre.
A photo ID is required for admittance and bags and backpacks will not be allowed into the theater. For more information on the case, check the court calendar. Registration is required for this free event.

About The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals hears appeals of cases decided by executive branch agencies and federal trial courts in nine western states and two Pacific Island jurisdictions. The court normally meets monthly in Seattle, San Francisco and Pasadena, California; every other month in Portland, Oregon; three times per year in Honolulu, Hawaii; and twice a year in Anchorage, Alaska. Are there ID or other requirements to enter the event?
A Photo ID is required for entry to the event. Bags and backpacks will not be allowed into the theater.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking on Campus
The West Parking Structure is the closest public pay parking lot to the event venue. It is located on Marian Way at the West Entrance off Linda Vista Drive. A USD Tram departs every 15 minutes and stops at Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice.
When visiting USD, please plan ahead and allow yourself ample time to park your vehicle, pay at that pay station, and take the tram to the venue.

PARKING RATES
Pay By Plate
All paid parking areas at USD operate as pay-by-plate. This means that a license plate number is required when making a payment at the pay station.
- It may be helpful to take a picture of your license plate after you park your vehicle.
- Once you have made your payment, there is no need to display your receipt on your dashboard.
- The pay stations on campus accept coins as well as Visa & Mastercard credit/debit cards. They do not accept cash or American Express cards.
