The first solo percussionist to ever win the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, Ji Su Jung is known for her distinct musical voice. Born in South Korea, she began her marimba studies at age three and has since become one of the most sought-after percussionists in the world. She has performed with top orchestras including the Baltimore Symphony, Houston Symphony, and Sarasota Orchestra, and has appeared as a soloist in such venues as the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center's David Geffen Hall. An avid chamber musician, she frequently performs with The percussion Collective, an all-star group of young percussionists. A renowned pedagogue, she is also a faculty member at the Curtis Institute and Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.
