The Unified Quantum Field: A Quantum Artist Workshop
About this Event
The moment you make a mark, choose a color, or decide to stop — you are collapsing a wave function.
You are not learning about quantum physics. You are quantum physics in action. It is the presenter's intention to promote a recognition of the tremendous creative faculty and control an artist has within and without his/her environment — so establishing himself or herself even more firmly as an artist.
This intimate, one-day workshop invites 12 artists to gather at the CB Creative Art Center in Colonial Beach, Virginia, to explore one of the most exciting ideas at the intersection of art and science: the Unified Quantum Field. Through your own creative medium, you will discover that the principles of quantum physics — entanglement, superposition, the observer effect, wave-particle duality — are not abstract theories. They are the living language of your studio practice.
What the Day Includes
The workshop runs from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (with a lunchbreak from 1–2 p.m.) and is designed to be experiential, not academic. You will engage in a lecture with handouts, interactive discussion activities, and a studio art-making activity. Every participant leaves with a Quantum Glossary Card — a beautiful, tangible reference connecting quantum concepts to your creative life.
Who This Is For
This workshop is for any visual artist — painter, photographer, sculptor, mixed media artist, or craftsperson — who has ever felt that mysterious, effortless flow in the studio and wondered what it truly is. No background in science is required. Only an open mind and a willingness to see your own work in a new light.
Your Workshop Leader
Carolyn Goodridge is the Founder and Executive Director of Art Impact International, Inc., a multicultural nonprofit supporting and encouraging artists worldwide to stay creative and stay current. With exhibitions at the Guggenheim, the U.S. Embassy in Rome, and works collected by the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, Carolyn brings a rare combination of artistic depth, scientific curiosity, and genuine warmth to every room she enters. Her teaching philosophy is simple: she does not teach quantum physics about art. She teaches that your creative act is quantum physics.

Welcome and Introductions
🕑: 11:15 AM - 12:00 PM
Lecture: The Unified Quantum Field and Your Art Practice (with handouts)
Info: Here you will learn basic yet fundamental quantum physics terms and discover how these concepts are no different from creative art making itself. Carolyn will bring her latest painting, Existing, as a living example of these principles in action.
🕑: 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
Interactive Discussion: Where Do You Feel the Quantum Field in Your Work?
Info: Here you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding and explore how you may apply these concepts to further expanding your creative work.
🕑: 01:00 PM - 02:00 PM
Lunchbreak (on your own)
Info: This is meant to be an existential exercise — experiencing the quantum field in everyday life, let alone in art-making.
🕑: 02:00 PM - 03:30 PM
Studio Art-Making Activity
Info: These 90 minutes are spent practicing and actualizing the concepts as you understand and interpret them to be. This time is experiential, transcending the noise of thinking.
🕑: 03:30 PM - 04:00 PM
Group Share and Reflection
