The Turning Practice of the Whirling Dervishes
About this Event
All are welcome. No experience necessary.
From the tradition of the great love poet Rumi, these classes provide instruction in the whirling practice, which polishes the heart, clears the mind, and trains the body to participate in wordless prayer. Classes usually include warm-up exercises, then turning instruction, Zikr, and/or other aspects of the Mevlevi Sufi tradition such as teachings from Rumi.
First class by donation. There is a fee for ongoing classes; however, a tight budget should not prevent participation. Contact [email protected] for more information.
Meets 2nd and 4th Sundays, 2:00 to 4:00 PM, in the Moon Room at Common Street Spiritual Center, 13 Common Street, Natick. Please enter through the School Street door.
