This Sunday's Open Circle is a special gathering. We are honored to welcome Maria Turner, chairperson of the Natick Nipmuc Tribe, and her daughter Shani Turner as our guest teachers.
The Natick Nipmuc people have lived on this land for thousands of years. Their spirituality and culture hold a deep understanding of the water, the land, and the ancestors, and a beautiful way of loving and caring for them. This Open Circle is a chance to listen, to learn something about Natick Nipmuc spirituality and culture, and to receive some of this wisdom from the people who have carried it here for generations.
Common Street Spiritual Center stands on Natick Nipmuc land. We are committed to recognizing the Natick Nipmuc people, to honoring the truth of their history, and to furthering understanding and respect between our communities. Our Land Acknowledgment was written in close consultation with Maria Turner and other members of the Natick Nipmuc Tribe. You can read it here: https://commonstreet.org/land-acknowledgment/
As always, the Open Circle is a warm and welcoming space, and everyone has a chance to contribute as we move around the circle. All are welcome, including families and first-time visitors.
Free and open to the public. Yes, you can simply show up!
