John Frankenheimer's seldomly shown THE TRAIN (1964) with Burt Lancaster, Paul Scofield, Jeanne Moreau, Michel Simon and Suzanne Flon is filled with WWII action and heartfelt drama that questions the value of art in our lives and the fighting to preserve it culturally. In glorious black and white photographed by Jean Tournier and Walter Wottitz, Maurice Jarre offers another memorable film score. It was nominated for an Oscar for Best Story and Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.
