🕯️ The Town Remembers: Schererville — St. Michael’s Cemetery 🕯️Our next gathering will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Schererville, a place of deep history and personal meaning. Established by German Catholic families in the late 19th century alongside St. Michael the Archangel Parish, the cemetery holds generations of local stories—immigration, faith, hardship, and resilience—etched into stone.
As part of The City Remembers project, we’ll quietly photograph and document the grounds—not as spectators, but as keepers of memory. This is a time to honor the lives represented here while reflecting on our own connections to place and community.
When: Monday, September 22nd at 5:00 p.m.
Where: St. Michael’s Cemetery, Schererville, IN (meet near the main entrance gates)
What to Bring: Camera or sketchbook, comfortable shoes, and a respectful mindset.
Respect & Conduct: Please move with reverence, keep voices low, and avoid stepping directly on graves. If a service or family visit is taking place, we will give the area space or relocate within the grounds.
