🌸 Mr. Hat Presents an Afternoon with The Top Chefs ft. SundaY + Afterthought
Sunday, August 2nd | Chapel of The Flowers, Berkeley Doors: 1:00 PM | Show: 2:00 PM | 21+ | Sponsored by CBCB, Berkeley's most beloved dispensary
On Sunday, August 2nd, Mr. Hat Presents and the Chapel of The Flowers in Berkeley welcome The Top Chefs, a powerhouse live band known for their dynamic performances blending hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and soul. The band performs original music as well as covers of R&B, soul, and early 2000s classics. They are best known for starting the live performance platform Stoop Sessions, where artists can reimagine their songs with the band on an iconic SF Victorian Stoop. They've backed legendary Bay Area artists including B-Legit, Dru Down, Nef The Pharaoh, Mistah F.A.B, and Cellski.
Afterthought is San Francisco rap with a heartbeat. A child of the foster care and adoption system, he built his entire musical foundation on one undying principle: Family First. His original music blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and soul into something both forward-thinking and nostalgic. Over 100 shows deep across the Bay, with residencies at El Rio, The Chapel, and the Academy of Sciences Nightlife, he fronts The Top Chefs and runs with the 17-strong collective Family Not a Group. By day, he is a youth counselor turning his platform into advocacy for underrepresented communities. Bay Area-raised and proud of it: "nobody is messing with us, nobody is giving us our due, so we do it ourselves."
The 101 year-old storybook chapel's exceptional acoustics make it one of the Bay Area's most special settings for live music, wrapping every note in a warmth and resonance that you simply have to hear to believe.
Settle into the vaulted, whimsical & welcoming chapel space (featuring a flower friendly outdoor patio, naturally) with delicious food and beverages from Ashby Eatery available to keep the good vibes flowing all afternoon. The doors open at 1:00 PM, the music starts at 2:00 PM, and the only agenda is to relax and enjoy a stunning performance in an unbelievable urban oasis. After the show, we will celebrate with a session on the patio in Chapel of The Flowers fine fashion with a reception hosted by CBCB.
This is a Mr. Hat Presents peak live music experience, sponsored by CBCB. Limited reserved seats and GA tickets are available now at MRHATPRESENTS.com.
This is a 21+ event. Doors at 1 PM. Food & beverages available, ADA accessible. Chapel of The Flowers, 3049 Adeline St., Berkeley, just across the street from Ashby Bart Station. All tickets are non-refundable unless event is cancelled.
