The Tom Merchant & Glen Johnson Sculpture Forum | Glassophilia: Why Do We Love Glass?
This inaugural program of our newly launched Sculpture Forum will explore the near universal appeal of glass from a number of perspectives—artistic to anthropolicial. Through presentations and discussion, this panel of curators and authors will muse about the reasons glass continues to capture our eyes and imagination.
Panelists:
Davira S. Taragin: Detroit-based craft curator, former Curator at the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Toledo Museum of Art, and author of Chihuly: On Color and Form.
Katya Heller: Executive Director, UrbanGlass, Brooklyn, New York, former Director of Heller Gallery, NYC, and strategic planner of Museum of Glass, Tacoma, Washington.
Rock Hushka: Seattle-based curator, former Chief Curator and Deputy Director at Tacoma Art Museum, and an author for Chihuly: Garden and Glass.
Suzanne Ramljak: Director of Curatorial Affairs at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park and former Editor of Glass Quarterly.
