March celebrates Women’s History month across the US, and the Milford Arts Council has booked all women-led performers for its concerts and comedy show for the entire month.
We kick things off on March 1st with a mini-fest called, The Story of Women, celebrating women in music and storytelling. Headliners: The Midnight Anthem, a fast-rising Country trio, and featured performances by: Milford’s own Kayte Devlin (singer-songwriter), Elaine Nadal (Milford Poet Laureate), Cinamon (instrumentalist, songwriter, poet, music therapist), carrying on the musical legacy of her grandfather, left-handed Banjo and Guitar Jazz musician Lee Blair and her indigenous lineage, and Ariel Horowitz (violinist and composer).
This afternoon will be impactful, community driven, and a beautiful illustration of the power of the female creative; to be celebrated by she/her, he/him, they/them – by us all.
Headliners – The Midnight Anthem
The Midnight Anthem is a musical trio from New England, made up of Catherine, Sophia & Grace…cousins by birth, but sisters at heart. The group has an uncanny knack for creating music that is both fun to listen to and touches the soul. Their music is an entertaining blend of original songs and popular tunes with a country flair and they have been compared to a wide range of performers from yesteryear such as America, The Cranberries, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and Simon & Garfunkel.
Midnight Anthem springs from a family musical tradition. Their rhythm section is made up of Cat & Sophia’s brother, Ian on bass (aka “BassBro”) and Grace’s dad, Dominick on drums (aka “DrumDad”). Their music, country inspired/Americana, is an entertaining blend of original songs and popular tunes with a country flair and they have been compared to a wide range of performers from yesteryear such as America, The Cranberries, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and Simon & Garfunkel.
