Join us on Thursday, September 17th, 2026, as we welcome Randy Flood as he presents: The Southern Campaigns of the Revolutionary War. Few Americans today know about the multiple battles, skirmishes, sieges and military engagements that occurred in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia during America’s War for Independence in the Southern colonies. History books continue to focus primarily on the battles of Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill, Brandywine, and Saratoga, while in most instances ignoring the vicious “civil war” that existed between “Whigs and Tories” or omitting engagements such as the battles of Kings Mountain, Cowpens, or Guilford Courthouse which ultimately led to the last major battle or siege of the war that many Americans do recognize, Yorktown. This talk about the Southern Campaigns of the Revolutionary War will explore the importance of what happened in the South; engagements which led Lord Cornwallis and his British Army to eventually move north to Virginia and Yorktown with the goal of ending the war once and for all.
Randy Flood is Host and a Founder of The Real American Revolution Multimedia Center & Consortium for Civic Education; a nonprofit organization established to educate Americans about what really happened during our American Revolution. He began his career serving on the staff of the United States Senate, and has taught classes about government, civics, ethics, politics, our environment, and American history for over 50 years. In addition to currently interviewing authors and historians about books they have written about the American Revolution (which can be located on his website at www.trar.us), he teaches 45 classes about America’s War for Independence with a particular focus on providing Virginia History and Social Science teachers with the content they need to educate their students about our American Revolution and early American heritage. He is currently Vice President of Programming for the Richmond American Revolution Round Table and also serves on the Board of the Virginia Council for the Social Studies.
