The Pittsfield Chamber Project (PCP) was founded in 2020 by Davis Albayeros to create an accessible and equitable opportunity to learn chamber music in a collaborative setting. Davis created two quartets; The Pittsfield Youth String Quartet (PYSQ) and The Soto String Quartet. The PYSQ is a quartet aimed at students in middle school who are interested in learning and performing chamber music.
The Soto String Quartet provides a higher level of experience and difficulty in repertoire for students who want to challenge themselves professionally. With this opportunity, students will have additional support for any music related or non-musical related education they seek after high school or undergraduate studies.
The Soto String Quartet is named after Jorge Soto who has been part of their lives since 2011. The Quartet attended the after school program Kids 4 Harmony where Soto joined as part of the staff and later became the program’s conductor. He has inspired all of them from auditioning and getting accepted into the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles Summer Festival to preparing for college.
Soto was the conductor for El Sistema’s Longy Side by Side Symphony Orchestra in Boston for 8 years, a program that allows younger string students to play with graduate students. He has also conducted The Boston Symphony Chamber Players, The United Nations Festival Orchestra of Hope, Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra and many more.
The Soto String Quartet consists of:
Davis Albayeros, First Violinist, Founder and CEO: Having played the violin for 12 years and composed music for 8 years, Davis has developed an extensive background in both performance and composition. He is 19 years of age and is currently attending the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music on a full ride majoring in Violin Performance.
His major performance experiences include participation in the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA) National Festival, where he was accepted for six consecutive years; the Longy Side-by-Side Symphony Orchestra in Boston; the Kids 4 Harmony Octet and Orchestra; The LA Phill’s Colombia - USA Orchestra on Tour; The Semi-finalist of the Guadalajara International Violin Competition; and the Stockbridge Sinfonia. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was also selected for the YOLA National Institute (YNI), a highly selective program that invites some of the most outstanding musicians from the YOLA National Festival.
Through these experiences, Davis has distinguished himself as a dedicated violinist, accomplished composer, and inspiring leader. His commitment to artistic excellence, combined with his extensive performance experience and leadership roles, has enabled him to make meaningful contributions to every ensemble of which he has been a part while continuing to grow as a musician and scholar.
Geivens Dextra, 2nd Violinist: Geivens Dextra, a 20-year-old violinist from Pittsfield, MA, has 12 years of experience learning and performing the violin through the El Sistema-inspired program, Kids 4 Harmony. Through Kids 4 Harmony, Dextra discovered his love for music and aspires to pursue a career as a musician, focusing on violin performance, music production, and film scoring.
Throughout the years performing on the violin, Dextra has appeared at Walt Disney Concert Hall as part of the YOLA National Festival, attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Summer Program, and performed with the Western Massachusetts District Orchestra and the Massachusetts All-State Orchestra. These experiences were crucial in shaping his discipline as a violinist and deepened his passion and commitment to violin performance.
In addition to performing, Dextra is also an aspiring composer with an interest in music production and film scoring. He’s composed a short jazz work performed by Grammy Award-winning pianist Emmanuel Ax, as well as a string quartet for the documentary "Hear Me," a film exploring the root causes of gun violence in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, through interviews with young people who have firsthand experiences.
Daniel Lin, Violist: Daniel Lin is a 17 year old rising senior at Pittsfield High School. He has been playing the violin for 11 years and the viola for 5 years. Recently, in June of 2026, he performed at Carnegie Hall with the Empire State Youth Orchestra as the assistant principal violist. He is an avid classical music enthusiast and plans to take his passion for music into college and beyond.
Ginamarie Bocchino, Cellist: Ginamarie Bocchino studies music performance at Boston University. She began playing cello in the third grade with Kids 4 Harmony, and is a recent alumna of the program. At BU she studies under William Rounds. She has performed for weddings, with the YOLA National Festival, and more. For fun, she enjoys learning new languages and photography.
