Join Lavender Hill Farm and the Boyne Heritage Center on September 19th for an unforgettable evening with Sionainn Laoi, an Irish traditional music duo whose sound is rooted in the rich musical heritage of Ireland. Featuring Hannah Harris on fiddle and voice, and Alberto “Bear” Whitmer on guitar and bodhrán, their performances blend lyrical melodies with driving rhythms, creating an experience that is both deeply authentic and captivating.
Shaped by their time studying in Ireland and influenced by renowned traditional musicians, the duo brings a sense of place and storytelling to every performance, transporting listeners through the timeless sounds of Irish music.
Set inside our beautifully restored 1920s barn, this concert is part of The Series at Lavender Hill Farm, an intimate summer music experience where nationally touring artists perform for Northern Michigan audiences in a one-of-a-kind farm setting.
Arrive early to picnic on the lawn, enjoy preshow music in the amphitheater, and spend the evening surrounded by music, community, and the beauty of the farm.
Your attendance and participation in the silent auction help support the mission of the Boyne Heritage Center and the preservation of our shared local history.
About the Artist: SIONAINN LAOI
Sionainn Laoi is a compelling Irish traditional music duo from southeast Michigan, featuring Hannah Harris on fiddle and voice, and Alberto (Bear) Whitmer on guitar and bodhrán. Their name reflects their formative musical experiences in Ireland —Harris studied at University College Cork along the River Lee, while Whitmer honed his skills at the University of Limerick across the River Shannon.
They connected at The Ark’s Gavin Family Crossroads Ceili and local sessions in Plymouth and Ann Arbor, realizing their styles and influences meshed perfectly. Harris’ fiddle playing, both lyrical and driving, echoes the styles of Matt Cranitch and Liz Carroll, while Whitmer’s sensitive yet lifting guitar work draws inspiration from Tony McManus and John Doyle. Together, they create a rich, authentic sound that captures the essence of Irish traditional music.
