The Self-Publishing Experience: From Manuscript to Market

There are so many things to consider, such as how to go about it, what can realistically be achieved and what your options are. So from the UK’s most widely-recommended self-publishing services providers comes The Self-Publishing Experience Day – From Manuscript to Market – a day of sessions held at our offices in person, hosted by staff from Troubador Publishing.

The day’s sessions look at all aspects of publishing a book, ebook or audiobook – from editing the manuscript to typesetting and cover design, marketing and distribution. If you’re considering self-publishing as an option for your own work and want to find out more, the Self-Publishing Experience Day is just right for you.

Our continuous goal is to demystify the self-publishing process, explain what your options are as a self-published author, look realistically at what you can expect from self-publishing and demonstrate the processes involved in putting a book and/or ebook together. There will be multiple in-person sessions throughout the day, designed to be an informal look at all aspects of the publishing, distribution and marketing processes. A final, detailed timetable will be provided to all delegates in advance of the day.

At the end of the Self-Publishing Experience Day, you will have a far better understanding of self-publishing in general as well as an appreciation of the freedom and excitement that it brings with it.

This Self-Publishing Experience Day is held in person at Troubador’s offices in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. We promise a whole day of enlightening and stimulating information in an informal setting.

The Self-Publishing Experience Day costs just £30 to attend. This includes a buffet lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

Info: Following the arrival of all the author attendees, Katy will give you a short introduction to the day.

Info: The first session of the day will see Carolina, one of our Production Controllers, and Chloé, our Designer for Troubador book covers, talking you through the art of cover design and typesetting while covering everything you need to know.

Info: Editing is a crucial part of a book fulfilling its potential. Our Desk Editor, Issy, will run through why it is so important and how an author can get the most out of the editorial process.

Info: In this session, our Digital Production Controller Andrea will explain everything authors should know about publishing an ebook.

Info: A tasty lunch and refreshments will be provided as part of the experience day.

Info: In this session, Matthew will explain how we fulfil orders for the UK book trade daily from our dedicated distribution centre. This will be followed by a tour of our warehouse.

Info: Audiobooks and websites are becoming more and more essential for self-published authors. In this session, Steph explains why that is and how authors can make the most of their own audiobooks and websites.

Info: Marketing your book can be challenging. In this session, Jonathan simplifies all you might have read or heard into some easy-to-understand points and next steps.

Info: To close the day, Katy will round up the key points from the day. She will also be advising you on how to submit your manuscript.
