About this Event
The term “Science of Reading” is appearing everywhere but what does it mean? Is it relevant to early childhood educators? This session will explore what literacy is all about, what the science of reading is and isn’t and five critical areas for young children’s literacy development. A variety of important vocabulary and topics will be discussed including explicit instruction, deliberate practice, Scarborough’s Reading Rope, and the early childhood teacher’s role.
This session will set the important foundation for an upcoming session with more specifics about how to incorporate the science of reading in a preschool setting.
