Join us to celebrate the launch of The Rhys Davies Short Story Award Anthology 2026!
Guest judge Tyler Keevil, editor Elaine Canning, and the finalists and overall winner of the 2026 Rhys Davies Short Story Competition will discuss the collection and the short story form.
“The stories which feature on the 2026 shortlist transport readers across various parts of Wales and further afield, including Italy and the US. These are compelling, tender stories focusing on environmental challenges and the natural world with strong folkloric elements; complex parent-child relationships; self-identification and obsession; and rural versus urban landscapes. It is an honour to include the work of the finalists in a special anthology dedicated to this competition – many congratulations to them all.” Elaine Canning (Editor)

Bydd y beirniad gwadd Tyler Keevil, y golygydd Elaine Canning, a phrif enillydd Cystadleuaeth Straeon Byrion Rhys Davies 2026 yn trafod y casgliad a ffurf y stori fer.
“Mae’r straeon sydd ar restr fer 2026 yn cludo darllenwyr ar draws gwahanol rannau o Gymru a thu hwnt, gan gynnwys yr Eidal a’r Unol Daleithiau. Dyma straeon cymhellol, tyner sy'n canolbwyntio ar heriau amgylcheddol a'r byd naturiol gydag elfennau gwerin cryf; perthnasoedd cymhleth rhwng rhieni a phlant; hunan-adnabyddiaeth ac obsesiwn; a thirweddau gwledig yn erbyn tirweddau trefol.
