About this Event

As a leading author of the golden age of detective fiction, Agatha Christie’s novels, short stories, plays and memoirs, have delighted, excited and fascinated readers for decades.

For many, our view of ‘Englishness’ has been formed through the pages of an Agatha Christie novel. She gifted the world iconic sleuths such as Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, and subverted accepted rules of crime fiction with her ingenious plot twists. By exploring Agatha’s passion for travel, her personal and home life, her expert knowledge of poisons, her wartime experiences, and her international appeal as the most translated author in history, we’ll celebrate the extraordinary legacy of Agatha Christie. The talk is complemented by a focus on Christie’s works in the exhibition.
