There is great power in intelligent listening – in improv there tends to be way too much talking. Enhance your skills - explore physicality and the wonderful world of space-object work. In this workshop we will work with pauses, breathing, timing, body language & non-verbal communication to build strong, layered scenes.
Mick Laugs was born in Japan, is German, grew up in Hong Kong and Switzerland. He is an actor, having studied at ACT, the Shelton and Mark Monroe Studios and with Bobby Weinapple / Seydways Acting Studios. He has a degree in International Economics from Claremont McKenna College, but the real lights went on in 1989 when he saw his first BATS Improv show. He is a perennial student of improv, has been coaching and teaching improvisation for 25 years - on the corporate, non-profit, private and school levels, including with SFJAZZ, the Marin Theatre Company, a four-year run at San Quentin State Pr*son, and with BATS (corporate & educational) for the last 8 years. He has performed live improv shows with Marinprov, Fully Unscripted, Monkey! Monkey! and the Secret Improv Society. With BATS he has performed as a Sunday Player, in Cave Matches and as a sometimes guest in Company shows. He loves sharing the magic of spontaneously crafted theatre and inspired, joy-filled community building, and going surfing.
We have community standards, a conflict process, and a COVID prevention policy in place. Agreement/acceptance of these policies is required to participate in BATS classes. Please use the links above to access and read these policies, and check the boxes during registration to indicate your agreement/confirmation.
