The Power of Female Rage

Way for Women invites you to join us for 'The Power of Female Rage'.
This event will explore the concept of female rage from its historical, sociological and psychological point of view. Together we will dive deeper into the question why the world seems to feel uncomfortable with women expressing their anger, and why ‘an angry woman’ has become a negative cultural symbol (archetype), visible in literature tropes (Jane Eyre), mythical stories (Medusa, Kali) and cinematic characters (Pearl, Gone Girl).
We will also discuss methods and tools that women can use in order to come to terms with their emotions labelled as negative (such an anger), as well as present examples of how justified rage helps transform people’s lives and whole societies for the better (for instance, women leading revolutions).
📌 The event will begin with an engaging introduction that will:
- Define and describe female rage and explain how this concept shapes our societal expectations of women
- Debunk common myths connected with anger and rage as a negative and solely destructive emotion
- Offer an alternative, healthy approach towards feeling and expressing our anger as women.
📌 After the introduction, we’ll break into small groups for thoughtful, solution-driven conversations. Guided by key discussion questions, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Explore your own, personal story connected with the main topic
- Discuss what role anger has played in societies and in our individual lives
- Address personal and systemic issues around this topic
- Examine the possible ways to feel more connected with your anger in a healthy, productive way.
This is a welcoming space for learning, reflection, and open dialogue. Whether you’re new to the conversation or deeply engaged in our community, your voice matters. Let’s come together to share perspectives, challenge assumptions, and inspire action for a more equal and happy world!
