The Power of Breath: An Introduction to Pranayama
About this Event
Your breath is always with you—but how often do you consciously work with it?
The Power of Breath is an experiential introduction to pranayama: the practice of intentionally guiding the breath to influence your physical, mental and emotional state.
During this 90-minute workshop, Ana will help you become more aware of the way you breathe and how different breathing patterns may affect your energy, focus and sense of calm.
Through a combination of accessible education, personal observation and guided practice, you will explore:
- How breathing patterns interact with the body and nervous system
- The physical and emotional effects of different ways of breathing
- How to recognize your own habitual breathing patterns
- A selection of pranayama techniques for calming, balancing and energizing
- Simple practices you can safely continue at home
This is not an intense breathwork journey. It is a supportive introduction designed to help you understand your breath, experience several techniques and begin developing a conscious breathing practice of your own.
No previous experience with yoga, meditation or pranayama is required. Each practice will be introduced gradually, with invitations to modify, pause or return to natural breathing whenever needed.
