About this Event
Training Description
This small-group workshop (limited to 20 seats) includes lunch, lecture, discussion, and group practice to equip you with seven calming techniques to enhance client care.
This mental health training combines lecture and interactive exercises to introduce participants to Polyvagal Theory and its practical applications. The course covers the autonomic nervous system's role in emotional regulation, focusing on three core states: social engagement, fight-or-flight, and shutdown. Through engaging discussions and hands-on practice, participants will learn seven calming techniques inspired by Polyvagal Theory, such as breathing exercises, grounding strategies, and methods to activate the body's natural calming processes. These tools help individuals manage stress, enhance emotional well-being, and improve client care.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the foundational concepts of Polyvagal Theory and its relevance to mental health.
2. Identify the three primary autonomic states and how they affect emotional and physical responses.
3. Learn how trauma and chronic stress can dysregulate the nervous system and affect social engagement.
4. Practice seven Polyvagal-informed calming techniques to promote self-regulation and nervous system balance.
