The Patio Poets
Emily Tripp Manning, Sabina Modeste and Angela Rae Clark
First Public Reading of the 2026 Inaugural Cohort
Friday, July 24, 2026
6:30pm
ZU Gallery Patio
48 W Main Street, Cortez, CO
Free and open to the public
This is the first public reading of the 2026 Patio Poets, a new Southwest Colorado program that selects twelve rural poets each year, pays them for their work, and mails their poems as printed broadsides to subscribers across the country. Three of them take the patio for the very first time.
Come hear their work.
Emily Tripp Manning is a recovering engineer who lives at the foot of the San Juan Mountains. She spends as much time as possible outdoors. Her poetry is included in the anthology Four Corners Voices.
Sabina Modeste was born in St. Lucia and found her voice early through writing. Words became her bridge to the world and to this community she now calls home. She leads a monthly Creative Writing Circle in the area.
Angela Rae Clark is a writer, activist, and community builder in Montezuma County who has spent years putting her energy into the people and places around her.
Free and open to everyone. Bring a friend. Stay for a drink. The patio is open.
