𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: Carl Theodor Dreyer constructed one of the most transcendent and rebellious pieces of silent cinema chronicling the trial and final hours leading up to her execution for heresy. Dreyer’s experimental approach with expressionistic lighting and intimate close-ups is a master stroke of cinema. Renéé Falconetti’s resilient and haunted performance as Joan is one of the most powerful portrayals of the human spirit ever captured on film.
