Join us in 2026 for our year-long film series REEL REBELS. We’ll be screening films known for their renegade characters, including stories about underdogs fighting the odds, lonely voices crying to be heard, and moviemakers struggling to share their vision. REEL REBELS showcases works from across the globe that prove that movies will always be a home for nonconformists, dissenters, and rebels. 𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝘁 princetongardentheatre.org/specials𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: Carl Theodor Dreyer constructed one of the most transcendent and rebellious pieces of silent cinema chronicling the trial and final hours leading up to her execution for heresy. Dreyer’s experimental approach with expressionistic lighting and intimate close-ups is a master stroke of cinema. Renéé Falconetti’s resilient and haunted performance as Joan is one of the most powerful portrayals of the human spirit ever captured on film.
We are excited to bring Not So Silent Cinema back to the theater to perform live music accompaniment set to THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC. The group has composed a brand new original score for this early masterwork of silent cinema.
