About this Event
Elizabeth Anscombe, Philippa Foot, Mary Midgley and Iris Murdoch were 4 friends who studied philosophy in Oxford during the 2nd World War and went on to change how moral philosophy was practised. They lived and studied in Oxford and their lives were interwoven.
On this walk we will visit where they lived, taught and acted. We will also look at one or two places marking preceding influential philosophers, such as R. G. Collingwood. Along the way, Gary Browning, author of Why Iris Murdoch Matters and Iris Murdoch and the Political, will talk about the work, lives, and friendships of these 4 extraordinary women.
