The Viktor Wynd Museum is delighted to present the work of Rufus White, one of London's most extraordinary and enigmatic creative figures.

Known to initiates and neophytes as the Custodian of the Museum's Gnostic Temple of Agape, Rufus White is a man of many lives: a silversmith, an accomplished craftsman and, above all, a practising warlock- the Agapaic Master Tzackorb. Working from an extraordinary old factory in East London- a place that seems to exist outside ordinary time- White has spent decades quietly creating an entire magical universe of sigils, talismans, enchantments and sacred objects.

His works are not merely representations of magic; they are acts of magic themselves.

Using found materials gathered from the natural world and the detritus of forgotten lives- mummified newts, mouse bones, herbs, roots, feathers, fragments of metal and antique paper- White creates intricate drawings and sculptures of astonishing complexity and beauty. Elaborate sigils unfold across pages like maps of invisible realms, while his sculptural assemblages appear to have been excavated from some lost occult civilisation.

Part alchemist, part artist, part magician, Rufus White occupies a unique place in contemporary British culture. His creations stand outside all conventional categories of art, drawing equally upon medieval grimoires, folk magic, hermetic philosophy and personal revelation.

For Viktor Wynd, who has spent a lifetime seeking out unusual and visionary creators, Rufus White is simply:

"Possibly the greatest genius I know."

This exhibition offers visitors a rare opportunity to enter White's enchanted world and to encounter works that blur the boundaries between art and ritual, object and spell, imagination and reality.

In an age of mass production and digital distraction, Rufus White reminds us that mystery still exists, that objects may still possess power, and that magic- if approached with sufficient devotion and imagination- remains entirely possible.

Notes to Editors

Rufus White is a silversmith and multimedisciplinary artist. He is the custodian of the Gnostic Temple of Agape at the Viktor Wynd Museum and works from an extraordinary former factory in East London. For this body of work his practice encompasses drawing, sculpture, talismanic objects and magical enchantments created from found and natural materials, including mummified creatures, wood, metal, herbs and bones. His work has rarely been exhibited publicly and remains one of London's best-kept secrets.
