Proving that soul music can be exponentially greater than the sum of its parts, The Nth Power is on a mission to illuminate audiences in a way rarely felt in this generation. Formed during an impromptu late-night jam at Jazz Fest in 2012, the relentlessly funky, soulful, climactic rock band believes in music as a higher power. They effortlessly tap in to an energy that is simultaneously sexy and spiritual; ferocious and full of finesse. These songs mainline inspiration into every audience, leaving no choice but to dance or just stand there in amazement.
Widely regarded by both fans and peers as one of the hottest drummers currently residing on planet earth, Nikki Glaspie (Snarky Pupppy, Punkadelic, Trouble No More Allman Brothers Tribute) has the cred to back that up and then some. Once upon a time, she was Beyonce’s world-touring drummer for five years before joining Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk. The joy she emits while playing only accentuates the superhuman beats she throws down. Nate Edgar (John Brown’s Body) is flat out one of the funkiest bassists you will ever have the pleasure of laying eyes and ears on. Then you have singer and guitarist Nicholas Cassarino (Jennifer Hartswick Band) – a pure embodiment of what soul is all about. He has achieved a tone on his instrument which is the product of a lifetime of refinement. He owns a distinction not too many other guitarists can claim, having traded licks onstage with the legendary Trey Anastasio. And it couldn’t hurt to tell you that he has also toured with Big Daddy Kane. The dude is flat out explosive!
This will be the fourth time The Nth Power has played the Crazy Horse which is testament to how much they love the vibe here. Each show has immediately been etched in the pantheon of all-time greats. Known across the country for their mind-blowing festival performances (many of which have included tributes ranging from Earth, Wind and Fire to Nirvana to Steely Dan), they are able to distill that grandiose energy into this intimate space in a way you just have to see to believe.
