About this Event
The New Rose Fete: A Ceremonial Reawakening is inviting members of the local Stockport community to come down to one of our drop-in sessions at What if? on Friday 13th March to share their memories, photographs and stories as part of a phased community programme of remembering Stockport and some of the traditions of years gone by.
Join neighbours from Brinksway, Edgeley and Stockport for curated archive film, memory-swapping, talks from Brinksway residents and cake!
PART 1: REMEMBERING AND RE-AWAKENING
This event will be delivered in partnership with Brinksway Cinema Club, and will act as a public introduction to a longer programme, centred on memory, shared storytelling and collective imagination and culminating in a celebration in the future.
This event will include
- Archive film screenings and facilitated discussion, exploring community, ritual and local life.
- Shared reflection on historic Rose Fetes’ processions and neighbourhood celebrations
- An early invitation for residents to contribute stories, photographs and memories
- An introduction to the New Rose Fete programme and its future phases
This opening moment will establish the cultural and emotional groundwork for the programme, ensuring future activity is rooted in lived experience and local voice.
This project forms part of the GM Live Well Spring Festival and will be one of a number of Pop-Up events across the Greater Manchester area celebrating connection, creativity and community power.
