Stockroom Creative Network #6 - Ruth Murray

For our 6th and final edition of Stockport Creative Network we have local legend Ruth Murray.
Ruths work places women in quiet, everyday settings using a bold an beautiful palette finding a stark, contemplative beauty in isolation and the spaces we think we know.
Her work has been exhibited globally, notable more recently at Garden Museum in 2025, with artwork held in many collections around the world and currently on show at Manchester Art Gallery. Those of you who know Ruths how impeccably detailed they are, those of you who don’t come down and learn about her incredible practice.

The eventing will start with an informal talk by Ruth about her work and slowly move into a painting workshop. There will be multiple exercises and studies to be made. No matter what skill level, we will have something for you.
People are encouraged to bring an object they would like to paint, or just bring yourself, as we have an exciting exercises around looking at colour and light. The foundation for all painting. Open to any skill levels for anybody and everybody, all materials provided.
