Tuesday, March 3rd kicks off Bonded Spirit Week in the Cov, where bourbon meets bluegrass in Northern Kentucky! The Bonded Spirit Bluegrass Festival celebrates the rich Kentucky legacy of bourbon and bluegrass music, named after the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, a bourbon purity law advocated for by Covington's own John G. Carlisle.
First up: the C-O-V Crawl. Three nights in three different Cov neighborhoods before the big weekend of bluegrass bands at the Republic Bank Rickhaus at Roebling Point. Each night spells out exactly where you are: C-O-V.
Tuesday is "C" for Central Business District.
4:00pm - Ceremonial Barrel Tap at Wenzel Whiskey. The Cov Cath Chamber Choir sings "My Old Kentucky Home" with banjo accompaniment. Tradition meets celebration.
5:00-7:00pm - "Happy Hour & History" guided stroll down Madison Avenue. Learn the real story about Covington's bourbon roots and why "Bottled in Bond" actually matters.
6:00-9:00pm - The Cov Crawl begins. Live bluegrass (full lineup coming soon!) and enjoy the official beer and cocktail of the festival: Garage Beer and the Bonded Spirit, made with New Riff Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon, at nine locations:
Braxton Brewing
Knowledge Bar
Libby's
Olde Towne Tavern
Revival
Second Story
The Globe
The Hannaford
The Well
Hitting all nine? Ambitious. Worth trying? Absolutely.
Stay tuned with local bars for the full lineup.
