On behalf of our NEMBC President, Rev. Dr. Lonnie E. Rector & Lady Virginia Rector, we kindly ask you to mark your calendars for the NEMBC 151st Annual Convention Session, October 23-25, 2025, in Newark, NJ.
Our host pastor and church, Rev. Rakeem Thomas, Senior Servant of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 100 Montgomery Ave, Newark, NJ, are excited to host us. The opening session will be held on Thursday, October 23rd at 7:00 pm, with a dynamic worship experience, good food, and great fellowship throughout the Convention sessions.
Featured lecturers and workshops on Friday, October 24, 2025, include Dr. Ronald Whitaker, a professor, skilled administrator, and servant leader. He will present “The Crisis of Queens and Kings … dealing with mental health and the weight of the Call,” highlighting Dr. Martin Luther King’s profound mental health struggles.

Dr. Theresa Brightman partners with Greater Newark Healthcare Coalition, University Hospital, Rutgers Brain Health Center, Choose Healthy Life, Maternal and Child Health, and more to present a Community Health Fair on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The Laymen’s department features “Bible Economics” by Dr. Obe McKenzie, a financial services executive and public speaker. The Men’s preventive health session focuses on longevity and self-care initiatives for men.
The President’s Address Dinner Banquet is held at 5:00 pm, followed by the Youth and Young Adult Worship Explosion Experience at 7:00 pm.
On Saturday, October 25th, Rev. Dr. Kim L. Cotten, Women’s Auxiliary President, and NJ Women’s Auxiliaries delegates will be in session.
