Using yoga, breathwork, visualization and inquiry practices this series explores one of the myths of Inanna, an ancient Sumerian goddess who heard an unmistakable call to the Underworld and heeded it.
As she enters the Underworld, Inanna must pass through 7 locked gates, each serving as a metaphor for stages of transformation and self-discovery. As she’s stripped of her possessions and attributes at each gate, Inanna undergoes a profound change, illustrating the necessity of relinquishing control to gain deeper wisdom.
From the Jungian perspective several versions of this myth describe the four phases of a soul’s journey: the descent into darkness, the bardo or liminal phase, connection with helpers, and a return to wholeness. Each session of this series will focus on one of these four phases in the sequence.
