The Motherlode: A Rap Girls Yoga Flow
About this Event
When’s the last time you’ve felt empowered? The Motherlode: A Rap Girls Yoga Flow is an intermediate yoga session led by award-winning author and certified yogi Arriel Vinson, that will activate the sacral and root chakras. With classic and new women’s rappers, this flow will remind us that confidence starts with the mind, and the body follows suit.
We’ll begin with a gentle warm up before moving into a medium-paced sequence that will get our hearts pumping. At the end of our flow, we’ll spend the last 10 minutes in a guided meditation—one that reminds us to be confident, speak life into ourselves, and release all that isn’t serving us.
Each ticket includes a copy of by Clover Hope. Please bring your own mat for this flow. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Project Loudmouth, a 501(c)(3) that brings diverse authors and illustrators to Indianapolis-area Title I schools.
About the facilitator:
Arriel Vinson started taking her yoga practice seriously in 2021 to counteract her stressful work life. What she discovered was a clearer mind, a desire to deepen her practice, and a calling to make more space for Black practitioners. As a CYT-200, certified by Cityoga in Indianapolis, Arriel hopes to show students that yoga is more than a fitness practice: meditation, breathwork, and asanas create a path toward understanding ourselves, and the world, better. They’re tools for liberation, resistance, and community building. An author by profession, Arriel incorporates journaling and affirmations into her classes to emphasize the constant need for loving ourselves and finding compassion in a society that often encourages the opposite. She is honored to guide you in whatever your yoga practice may reveal.
