The Money Stuff
Let’s talk about the stuff most of us were never really taught.
Money. Banks. Saving. Borrowing. Starting something. Growing something. Planning for what comes next. And knowing who to call when you have a question—or an opportunity.
The Money Stuff is an honest, approachable conversation about how to make banking work better for you, whether you own a business, are thinking about starting one, or simply want to understand your options and make smarter decisions with your money.
We’ll talk about the questions people often don’t ask until they need something: What should you actually expect from a banker? When should you start building that relationship? What opportunities, products, or programs might you not even know to ask about?
And if you own a business, when should you start thinking about an exit plan—and what does that even look like? What should you be doing now to prepare for where you want to be five, ten, or twenty years from now?
Because so much of the money stuff isn’t just about what you need today. It’s about knowing what questions to ask before you need the answers.
This won’t be a financial seminar or a sales pitch. It’ll be a real conversation about money, relationships, opportunities, planning ahead, and the things worth knowing before you need to know them.
Bring your questions. The ones you’ve always wondered about—and the ones you didn’t know you should be asking.
Because when it comes to money, it pays to ask.
About Steve Bishop
Steve Bishop is the Market President at First Financial Bank, where he brings more than thirteen years in banking to helping local business owners find the right products, programs, and people to support their goals. Before joining First Financial in 2024, he worked as a Business Advisor for the Indiana Small Business Development Center and Ivy Tech Community College.
But ask Steve, and he'll tell you banking isn't really about products, it's about people. His approach is holistic and human: real curiosity about who you are and where you're headed, not just what's in your account. He believes the best banking relationships are partnerships built on understanding and trust, not transactions — exactly the kind of banker every entrepreneur deserves on their journey.
A proud IU grad and longtime Bloomington resident, Steve serves on the boards of Premier Capital Corporation, the American Red Cross of Southeast Indiana, and United Way of South Central Indiana, along with finance committees for the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce and the Bloomington Health Foundation. He's also been Blueline's banker, and a trusted partner, for over a decade.
