A poetry reading series centered on domestic and global liberation.
About this Event

Artists Against Apartheid & The Midnight Hour Collective present: a poetry reading series centered on domestic and global liberation. Come gather in community to read and listen to poetry centering Black liberation and the liberation of Palestine, Sudan, the Congo, and an end to American militarism.

All proceeds for Series 1 go to the Oakland People's Arms Embargo & Anti-Police Terror Project.

Our February reading will feature THE Nida Liftawiya & Reggie Edmonds-Vazquez.

Nida Liftawiya is a Palestinian activist, multi-disciplinary artist, social worker and educator. A lifelong creative, her artistry is deeply rooted in the rich heritage, resilience, and beauty of her homeland.

Reggie Edmonds-Vasquez is a poet, educator, and cultural curator from Richmond, CA. Their work, which examines the intersection of Black, Queer, and Gender diverse identities, has been selected for fellowships and awards from Nomadic Press, the Afro Urban Society, Shuffle Collective and others. Their poem, Aerodynamics of the American Negro, was a finalist for the 2022 Red Wheel Barrow Poetry Prize. They currently can be found as the Program Director of Rich Oak Events and the 2024 Co-Champion of the Berkeley Poetry Slam.
