There’s a reason matcha has become more than just a drink—it’s a ritual centred on mindfulness, hospitality, and human connection. It's a chance to slow down, be present, and enjoy something made with intention.
Join us for The Matcha Social, an afternoon of creativity, conversation, and matcha in collaboration with Matcha n' Mochi as part of Sylvan Lake's CulinArts Celebration.
You'll paint your own ceramic matcha bowl while discovering the story behind one of the world's oldest tea traditions. Learn how authentic matcha is grown and prepared, what sets high-quality matcha apart, and why this centuries-old ritual has become today's favourite afternoon pick-me-up.
Of course, no matcha experience would be complete without one in hand. Your registration includes a handcrafted matcha, customized just the way you like it, to enjoy while you paint.
Whether you're bringing your best friend, planning a girls' afternoon, or coming solo, our community tables make it easy to settle in, meet new people, and spend a couple of hours creating something you'll actually use long after the day is over.
Your Experience Includes:
🍵 A handcrafted matcha made to your taste, served while you paint
🎨 Paint your own ceramic matcha bowl to keep
🌿 A live matcha experience with Matcha n' Mochi, including:
- The history and tradition of matcha
- How matcha is grown and prepared
- How to recognize quality matcha
- Tips for making café-worthy matcha at home
✨ All pottery painting supplies, glazing, and kiln firing
🤍 Two hours of creativity, conversation, and a cozy afternoon with good company

Your finished bowl will be professionally glazed and kiln fired, then ready for pickup approximately 7–10 days after the event.
Come with a friend, or come on your own. By the end of the afternoon you'll leave with a handmade matcha bowl, a few new skills, and maybe even a couple of new friends.
