The Main: 75 years of memories – and more! – Historical tours of The Main
About this Event
The Main: 75 years of memories – and more!
Saint-Laurent Boulevard – and especially the area covered in this tour – is traditionally known as the cultural crossroads of the city. Over the last 150 years it has been much more than that: it’s been called “an in-between space where people from many backgrounds have immigrated and settled – a place laden with future possibilities.” We’ll stroll through its history, learning about the various immigrant groups that have seen the street as their Main, and also exploring some of its architectural, demographic, cultural, ethnic, urbanistic and economic diversity.
(End point: Parc des Amériques)
Tour offered as part of ”Historical tours of The Main“ by The Main and Mile End Memories in collaboration with the Société de développement du boulevard Saint-Laurent
