An Exhibition by Douglas C. Breckenridge
Experience the beauty, power, and humanity of Kenya's famed Maasai Mara through a compelling collection of original oil paintings by Monroe artist Douglas C. Breckenridge.
Created following a two-week journey through the Maasai Mara in June 2025, this exhibition documents an extraordinary landscape where wildlife, culture, and nature exist in remarkable harmony. From towering elephants and sweeping grasslands to intimate glimpses of everyday life, each painting reflects both the artist's technical mastery and his deep appreciation for the places he encounters.
A retired architect and longtime artist, Breckenridge brings decades of experience in design, observation, and drawing to his work. His expressive style blends impressionistic color with careful composition, creating paintings that feel both immediate and timeless.
Opening Reception
Thursday, August 6
5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Artist Talk at 6:30 PM
This reception is presented in conjunction with the Downtown Gallery Crawl, inviting visitors to enjoy an evening celebrating the arts throughout downtown West Monroe.
The exhibition will remain on view August 3 through September 10 at The Gallery at 118 Cotton, Monday-Thursday during regular office hours - please call ahead to confirm we will be in due to our rural region work.
Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
