About this Event

Perimenopause isn’t “all in your head.” It can begin as early as your mid-30s — often long before anyone tells you what’s happening.

BEFORE THE PAUSE is a powerful, eye-opening documentary that reveals the hidden reality of perimenopause through the voices of women whose lives are being quietly disrupted and dismissed. A teacher is told her symptoms are “just stress” while her career and family life unravels. A firefighter navigates heavy bleeding with no women’s restroom in sight. Doctors themselves admit they were never trained to recognize or support what their own patients are experiencing. By centering real women’s stories alongside leading experts, the film exposes a massive blind spot in women’s healthcare — and why catching perimenopause earlier can change everything. It also looks at how this transition affects the heart, brain, bones, and sexual health, and what women can do to truly thrive through it.

Produced by Women in the Room Productions and Take Flight Productions.
