An intimate night in the living room with poetry, storytelling, food, and fun. A celebration of National Poetry MonthAbout this Event
The Living Room Show returns as a special celebration of National Poetry Month with an intimate, powerful gathering rooted in truth-telling, black womanhood, shit talking and community.
This installment features an extraordinary lineup of voices, Brittany Rogers, an educator and co-host of VS Poetry Slam with a grounded presence and a popping lipstick and nail combo.
The incomparable Mahogany L. Browne, founder of the Black Girl Magic Ball, mentor to countless writers, and widely recognized as one of the most influential poetry slam coaches in history. A Lincoln Center top 50 fellow and author of multiple acclaimed works, a goddess in all forms.
The evening is co-hosted by Detroit’s own Natasha T. Miller, an internationally touring poet, activist, voiceover artist and storyteller. Alongside her is curator La Shaun Phoenix of the Charles H. Wright Museum, whose commitment to amplifying Black voices and narratives shapes the heart of this experience.
More than a show, this is a conversation. It is educational. It is intentional. It is a gathering of four dynamically powerful Black women, each bringing their own lens, lived experience, and brilliance into one shared, unforgettable room.
Expect poetry. Expect honesty. Expect to leave with your wig or cut pushed back!
