About this Event
A free monthly gathering for anyone who wants to practice slowing down in nature and reconnect with themselves, with others, and with the natural world.
Join The Living Circle!
Over the next 4 sessions of The Living Circle a main focus will moving through a simple practice from late-great environmental activist and eco-philosopherJoanna Macy. Joanna, a long time Bay Area resident, and huge inspiration of mine, developed a framework called The Work That Reconnects which centers around a simple practice called The Spiral (feel free to research but it is in no way required, come unprepared, you'll be fine!).
There are 4 stages to The Spiral: Beginning with gratitude, honoring our pain for the world, seeing with new eyes and finally, going forth. While each session will build on the previous you can drop into any session and you won't be lost, and if you can't make it to every session, have no fear, each one will be individually meaningful!
Where Fulton & Chain Of Lakes Dr. Route to Wise Forest Preschool. No we won't be meeting at a preschool, it just happens to be a very conveniently located existing landmark on Google Maps. From this initial meeting point we will take a short walk to where we will settle.
This is not a therapy group, however the facilitator is a licensed therapist and this outdoor space welcomes whatever is alive in you right now. Expect shared listening, practices to attune to the world around us, room for grief, gratitude, and everything in between.
Why this group
Not only in my roles as therapist and father but also in own animal body do I sense our essential need for being immersed in nature. If you're anything like me, after only a few minutes in nature I can feel my nervous system exhale and release tension I didn't even know I was carrying. The slowly swaying branches, the drifting clouds, birdsong. This group puts us in places to experience this benefit, not just by ourselves, but with other humans seeking the same.
Is it really free? If so why?!
Yes, it's really free. This offering is something that I want to be a part of and don't see if already existing somewhere in the city so I'm creating it!
