Hollywood, big dreams and secrets that could ruin everything.
Hersh, an emigrant from Poland, comes to California to conquer the world of film. Luck is on his side: he wins an audition in a legendary Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio and becomes part of dream factory. However, his way to the top quickly turns into a dangerous game. The protagonist’s past attracts the interest of the FBI, and suspicions begin to mount around him. Who is the titular Hersh? Is his story merely a tale of the American dream come true, or is it a part of a larger, dark conspiracy? And who is truly the love of Hersh’s life?
Ishbel Szatrawska’s play is a gripping, multi-layered story about identity, survival and longing for a lost fatherland. Full of tension, irony, and emotion, it balances on the border between cinema and theatre, combining Hollywood-style grandeur with the intimate drama of the individual.
This performance features very loud sound effects.
Cigarettes are smoked on stage during the performance.
There are scenes of nudity.
